Chocolate Chip Cookies Without Eggs

Chocolate chip cookies without eggs; You’ll love the secret ingredient that makes these chocolate chip cookies without eggs so creamy and delicious!

Chocolate Chip Cookies without Eggs! from JensFavoriteCookies.com You won't even miss the eggs when you use this secret ingredient! It’s funny, no matter how many cookies I make, no matter how many fun flavors I introduce my kids to, when they feel like making cookies, they always make plain old chocolate chip.

I guess you just can’t beat a classic.

I figure, if I’m going to make chocolate chip cookies again, I need a good reason.  A twist.  Something new, some reason you would choose this cookie over, say, this one, or this one, or even this one.

And, I have it.  Because these are chocolate chip cookies without eggs.  Which means two things:

1- If you have an egg allergy, you can still have crazy awesome cookies.
2- Even if you don’t have an egg allergy, you might want these anyway, because the substitute ingredient makes these so soft, so rich, and so flavorful, you literally will not miss the eggs.

Egg-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies from JensFavoriteCookies.com, You won't even miss the eggs when you use this secret ingredient!

My evidence is completely anecdotal, as usual.  I made these at midnight, while waiting for Robb to come home from a very late night at work.  He probably ate 6 of them before he went to bed.  Before I even photographed them, if you can believe it!

I probably ate 6 of them without noticing it the following morning.  Seriously, they’re all creamy and delicious.

The secret is the ingredient you use instead of the eggs.  The gorgeous, creamy, heavenly, gift-from-God ingredient.  Do we need a drumroll here?  {I think so.} It’s cream cheese.

Egg-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies from JensFavoriteCookies.com You won't even miss the eggs when you use this secret ingredient instead! Egg-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies from JensFavoriteCookies.com You won't even miss the eggs when you use this secret ingredient instead!

Once you’ve had chocolate chip cookies with cream cheese in them, you’ll never want to go back to the regular kind.  I swear.

I should thank the egg-allergy people for forcing us into such a wonderful invention as chocolate chip cookies without eggs.

I made them today. Followed the recipe exactly. I’ was so embarrassed by them, I had to toss them. More like sweet biscuits than cookies… May be okay for those serving guests with egg allergies, I suppose. I wouldn’t recommend this recipe to anyone else.

Definitely trying these next time I make chocolate chip cookies, Jen! I can taste that cream cheese now. This also means I can eat the dough without worrying, right?! (These cookies may never see the oven after all.)

Thank you so much for this! My sister is allergic to eggs, so she’s never had a cookie/cupcake/cake/brownie in her entire life. I’ve been looking everywhere for a good recipe, so she can finally have a cookie. Can’t wait to make these for her!

I am so excited to find this recipe, and so glad it’s your site I’ve stumbled upon (which I know I can trust for a great cookie recipe). I’ve volunteered to bring 2 dozen cookies to our end-of-year party for the 4th grade, and one of the students has an egg allergy. He NEVER gets to eat baked goods (as he always reminds us). I’m thrilled that he’ll be able to eat these. And…cream cheese? Yes, please.

    Best,
    Casey

Last night I realized that I needed to make something for my son to bring to class for his birthday before they break for holidays (his birthday is during the holidays here in Australia) We had it all planned out, then he tells me that there’s a girl with an egg allergy in his class! This recipe was a total life-saver! They are so delicious. I thought they would be flat, but they were quite puffy, I rolled them into bigish balls then flattened them slightly. Could have flattened them more, I couldn’t believe how they puffed up. Even the ones I overcooked still tasted good. 🙂 Thank you!!!

Oh I just remembered that I didn’t measure the baking soda, I just eye-balled it, maybe that’s why mine were so much puffier than yours! Haha, baking by the seat of my pants down here!

Miriam, extra baking soda will definitely make them puffier. And thanks for the compliments, I appreciate it!

I came across this recipe in the middle of the night trying to make cookies for my girlfriend. She wanted something sweet but everything I found called for eggs. Of course I didn’t have any eggs and didn’t feel like getting out and to the store in the middle of the night. Somehow through the mystic wonders of the internet I found these cookies. I have to say these cookies are really really good and very simple to make. I added extra chocolate chips of course though for my love. 😉

Bob, it totally depends on the pan. I rarely grease pans for cookies, but if you’re worried, greasing it won’t hurt. I tend to line my pans with either a silicone liner or a piece of parchment paper.

Thank you Jen! We are having a snow day here in Ohio and we have a house full of kids from the neighborhood. Going to make these to keep the kids occupied. I ran out of eggs don’t feel like running to the store since we have several inches of snow on the ground. Thanks!

I “made” these for this past Christmas for Santa, and my kids who are allergic to eggs. Unfortunately, my oven did some weird thing and the cookies got burned (I swear it was the oven!). The kids insisted on eating them anyway, because apparently burnt cookies are better than no cookies, and both declared them delicious! I’m trying them again tonight, and watching my oven like a hawk! Lol

P.S. Santa forgave me, since he couldn’t figure out how to fit an oven down my chimney!

WOW! You had me at cream cheese…my son is allergic to eggs. I usually make a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie…but was out of oats. This recipe is super easy to throw together, the dough is easy to work with when scooping out onto a pan… And the taste and outcome is divine. Thank you.

The best cookies I’ve ever made!!

I’m very happy with them, we have agreed to make all cookies with cream cheese from now on.

I made them with lots of chocolate sprinkles because I had no chocolate chips, still delicious, I can never get the crispy cookie, but the gooey cookie is now a favorite around here, so yeah, happy times.

I just have one question… Can I make cookies with the cream cheese as substitute for eggs and avocado for the butter?

Since my daughter has developed an egg allergy, she is feeling quite deprived. I came upon this chocolate chip cookie recipe and was very intrigued by the substitution of cream cheese. I knew I had to try it. The cookies were amazing!! I used dark brown sugar(a comment was made regarding a tangy taste. I thought this was a way of minimizing that) and added more chocolate chips and some nuts. I took them to a party without telling anyone they were egg free. They were devoured. I passed this recipe along to my daughter for her to try. She was thrilled. I will definitely make these again, even for those without an egg allergy.

Lauren, I love how you think! When you add oats, you have to replace some of the flour. I haven’t tried it, so this is a guess, but I would probably start with about 3/4 cup of flour, and around 1 1/2 cups quick oats. You might have to experiment with those measurements a little to get the consistency right, but this is a great idea! I might have to try it myself. 😉

    Dear Jen,

I just stumbled across this blog on my search for an egg free chocolate chip recipe because I was way too lazy to go to the store again. We all know that feeling, don’t we? 😉

At first I was all like “Is is possible to make them yummy just by using cream cheese”? Then I tried the cookie dough and oh my Gosh, I could’ve eaten the bowl without even baking the cookies 😉

So now they’re in the oven and I’m more than excited to know how they’ll turn out.

    Warm regards from Berlin, Germany,
    Elli

The cookie dough from these is amazing! And no worries about bacteria! Mine were little puff balls at first–I started to flatten them after the first batch and that helped. They also tasted a bit floury/dry/powdery. I’m quite certain I added the right amount of ingredients. I might try less flour next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Thank you for sharing your recipe. My son has peanut, tree nut, and egg allergies. We used your recipe using Target store’s “Market Fresh milk chocolate chip morsels” (they have no traces of nuts in them). The cookies turned out great. I didn’t have any baking soda so I used baking powder instead, not sure what the difference is but it worked! Tasty for everyone, my son loves them!

These cookies turned out great and delicious. The consistency was just a little different. I suggest adding 1 cup of brown sugar instead of half and just a half of the white sugar and put 2 tsp of vanilla instead of 1. Try it like that and it gives it a great flavor!!

My daughter has an egg allergy and it is very difficult to find recipes that work and taste good. These were perfect! I am truly shocked. The only thing I did differently was adding some chocolate extract too. I baked two pans together and doubled the baking time. The texture was like a regular cookie. Can you tell me what to change to make these oatmeal cookies? Thanks again for a great recipe!
