Baking peanut butter cookies is so fun! These butter peanut cookies are dotted with chocolate chips.
Sometimes it feels a little surreal, watching your family grow up and get old. The big milestones have been coming and going, and it’s weird to have them behind me.
This year, The Lizard (our oldest son) is a senior and getting ready to graduate from high school. Talk about making a girl feel old.
Even my adorable little nephew, Mateo Feo, is not so little and adorable anymore. He is getting ready to enter high school, he’s taller than me, handsome, and is constantly reminding his dad that he wants his car. It doesn’t stop me from pretending he is still 10 years old.
Not only is he a decent guitarist, a very good student, and fluently bilingual, but more importantly, he has really grown into the family love of peanut butter. It’s a fine tradition in my family. His father (my brother) is so addicted to peanut butter, all his coworkers give him peanut butter baked goods on his birthday.
And, what is peanut butter without chocolate? Well, still fabulous, actually, but it’s hard not to throw some chocolate in there.
Mateo Feo asked for peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for his birthday, and I just couldn’t say no to him. Because, all that peanut butter… mmmm.
One thing these cookies and Mateo Feo have in common is that I enjoy having both of them near. He lives within walking distance and visits regularly. And I like having these cookies close by, too.
Because, all that peanut butter!!

- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ⅔ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1¾ cup flour
- ¾ cup chocolate chips
- Cream butter, peanut butter, and sugars. Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
- Add salt and soda and mix well. Add flour and mix just until combined.
- Add chocolate chips and mix to incorporate.
- Roll 1-inch balls, and place on baking sheet. Bake at 350F for 9-12 minutes.
This recipe wonderful. It was simple enough for my little ones to help; an they loved the results! The cookies had a nice crisp outside and soft moist inside.
