Double Chocolate Cookies from JensFavoriteCookies.com - They have a little spicy kick to them! It’s been raining and raining here in Utah.  Which drives me crazy.

Nothing against rain, I don’t mind rain, and I basically live in the desert, so we’re always happy for the moisture, but it makes the skies so grey.  After a couple days of grey skies, I’m basically ready to flee the state.  I would never make it, living in Seattle or Portland.  The grey skies would suck out my soul.

Fortunately for me, there is chocolate therapy.  It’s a real thing, right?

Sometimes I use these fudge Brownie Cookies to quell the chocolate cravings, but today I wanted something with a little kick to it.  I couldn’t get these Double Chocolate Cookies out of my head, mainly because of the one ingredient that makes them so different.  One surprising little spice makes these cookies unique and memorable.

And delicious.

That secret little spice is… drumroll… cloves.

Cloves are not just for Christmas cookies and fake cigarettes, y’all.  You can use cloves all year long!

Did you know cloves are super healthy?  They have this chemical in them called eugenol, which can help prevent toxicity from some environmental pollutants, plus it has some anti-bacterial and anesthetic qualities.  Cloves are even known to fight cancer.  Do you get the ramifications of this?!  Adding cloves to your cookies makes them healthy! (-ish)

That makes this the most delicious “health” cookie ever.

This gives me one more excuse to make them again.  As if I needed one.

Originally, I used white chocolate chips in this cookie, which is really the way to go.  Today, I was out of white chips, so I doubled up the chocolate and used good ol’ semi-sweet chips.  Either way, I think you’ll be happy.

I know what you mean with the rain and the grey skies, it’s like that almost constantly here in England. I want to escape the country for warmer climates.

The cookies look delicious. I was just about to eat a nice chocolate cookie when my children came home from school and stole it from me! Typical. You seem to have missed out the cloves in the instructions. 🙂
