I don’t get into that many holidays, but I kind of like Valentine’s Day. Not because I’m into being mushy and romantic, but I just think it’s a fun day to give love to all my friends and family. I definitely do not want to go out to dinner that day. It’s as bad as Mothers Day, the most crowded restaurant day of all time. That is not my idea of a good time. What I love is a quiet evening at home, a candlelight dinner, fun treats and little gifts for my kids.
I put together a collection of my favorite Valentines Day recipes, some of them new favorites, and some classics.
Chocolate Sugar Cookies: These can be made quite fancy with royal icing, or if you have simpler preferences, they would taste amazing with cream cheese frosting.
Butter and Jam Thumbprints: Use strawberry or raspberry jam to give these cookies their red centers.
Chocolate Blackberry Cream Cookies: These are simple to make, and the blackberries give the frosting a lovely purple color.
Red Oreos: Made with a red velvet box cake mix, these are extremely easy and fast to put together, and look very… Valentiney!
Red Velvet Cupcakes: I don’t actually have the recipe for this cake anywhere on my blog, but it is currently in a note on my facebook page.
Drop me a comment and let me know what you made and how it turned out!
